What’s on the Sonar Display
Sonar Returns and Bottom View
As the boat moves, the unit charts the
changes in depth on the display to create a
profile of the Bottom Contour. The Sonar
View displays the sonar return intensity using
gray scale.
Strong returns often result from rocky or
hard bottoms (compacted sediment, rocks,
fallen trees), while weaker returns often
result from soft bottoms (sand, mud),
vegetation, and small fish.
The shades used to represent high, medium,
to low intensity returns are determined by
the setting you choose in the Bottom View
menu option. See Sonar X-Press™ Menu to
set the Bottom View.
